Engineering Technician

(Field Engineer /DOE)

      
Columbia Rural Electric Association is seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Engineering Technician located at the Cooperative’s Walla Walla Service Center.
           
Responsibilities include meeting customers, overhead and underground distribution line design, estimating materials and costs of projects, and the preparation of work orders. This position also helps maintain the Cooperative’s ESRI GIS system. Minimum qualifications include a two-year technical degree in engineering with a strong emphasis in electrical theory and computer applications.  A minimum of two years utilities experience is preferred.  Must be proficient with AutoCad, MS Office Suite, and ESRI software.  Should also be familiar with applicable codes, standards, and regulations, and possess a valid Washington State drivers license. Must be a team player with excellent interpersonal communications and time management skills.

Distribution Engineer

Columbia Rural Electric Association is seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Distribution Engineer located at the Cooperative’s Walla Walla Service Center.

This position requires the provision of specialized skills and knowledge to provide support to the System Engineer for the overall planning, design, and functions of the engineering of the Cooperative; and to ensure compliance with CREA construction specifications and applicable codes and regulations. Responsibilities include; meeting with developers and consultants in the preparation of plans for development projects, preparing estimates and staking sheets for the cooperative electrical distribution system, providing technical assistance, develop distribution system standards and evaluating existing methods, while working closely with the Engineering Technicians and System Engineer to meet objectives.  

Applicant is required to possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology with an emphasis in power systems and to have successfully completed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam. Licensure as a Professional Engineer or the ability to obtain licensure in Washington State within six months is preferred.  Applicant should have 3-5 years experience in electric utility engineering with experience in development, maintenance, and implementation of long and short-range work plans and designs for substation, communication, transmission and distribution systems.   Applicant must have strong management skills in the areas of communication, motivation, delegation, evaluation, and development.
