Columbia REA Electric Ambassadors

The Electric Ambassador program is a grassroots effort to educate Columbia REA members about the Cooperative and the electric utility industry. The electric utility industry is changing at a rapid pace. It is our goal to enlist member support in shaping public policy and the future of our electric cooperative. Legislators want to hear directly from our members – the voters. The more voters they hear from the more they will listen to what we have to say. Being an Electric Ambassador is easy, and lets you to be as involved as your time will allow.

Electric Ambassadors receive these benefits:

POWERLINE, a quarterly newsletter covering the grassroots movement, energy issues and other electric cooperative communities in Washington state.

Special briefings on current issues affecting the electric utility industry.

Receptions with elected officials sponsored by Columbia REA.

Public recognition during Columbia REA’s Annual Meeting.

Optional visits with your legislators organized for you by Columbia REA.

We hope Electric Ambassador’s will:

  • Support the goals and objectives of Columbia REA by participating on committees.
  • Meet with elected officials and staff to state your concerns about utility related issues.
  • Give us your feedback on Columbia REA initiatives and program activities.
  • Write a letter or e-mail that explains how a piece of legislation or policy affects your co-op. We will provide you with all the background information you will need on an issue.
  • Call your legislator’s office to notify him/her of your views
